Ever since I upgraded from Logic Pro 7.2 to Logic Studio (including Logic Pro 8), I've had issues with silent loops, where only the last repetition of a loop is audible, despite all being on the screen and un-muted. This appears to be random and I can't quite figure out how to replicate the bug. However, the error does occur on a regular enough basis to be very annoying. I'll give an example of when it works and how I've figured out to resolve it.
Error
- Import an audio file into the main arranger window. It doesn't seem to matter how this is done (e.g. through the loop browser, by dragging from finder, by importing into the Audio Bin).
- Repeat the loop a few times by dragging the top-right of the region to the right.

- Import another audio file a few repeats after the first file.
- Repeat the second loop a few times.

- Press play from the start.
- Sometimes only the last loop of a region is heard. For instance, if file A is repeated 3 times, making a total of 4 loops, then only the 4th loop is heard. The first 3 are silent. It also seems to vary between pressing play, stop and play again, but unfortunately it's inconsistent.
For me, the bug occur more when recording than in playback mode.
Simple Solution
Write the song as above, then
- Highlight the whole audio track by clicking in the title area on the left (in the image, it's step 1)

- Ensure that "loop" is checked
- If there are any breaks or places where you don't want regions repeating, then select those regions and uncheck loops on the left. It's a bit backwards, but it works.
