However I'm against the devaluation of the creative industries. Photography has been hit hard with photographs now exchanging for less than a dollar. All creative industries are being hit, including musical composition. The answer tends to lie in promoting professional services versus stock by amateurs and semi-pro. That said the line between pro and amateur is blurring since some microstock photographers are professional by virtue of the fact that they earn their living solely from microstock photography. There has been an enormous amount written about this devaluation, principally by experienced, professional photographers who are having to adapt to the emergence of new business models.
For audio, Award Sounds offer bespoke services rather than choosing music off the shelf. Following this theme, we will be moving our photography stock (including a catalogue that hasn't been released on Fotolia) onto Photographers Direct and similar sites
