Lessons Learnt 4 - Music as narrator

Think of music as an additional actor perhaps playing a variety of characters or if suits you better, it can be a single character displaying a variety of emotions and moods.  read more »


Lessons Learnt 3 - Movement

When I watch Memory, the main thing I notice is that the characters do not move much. Most of the scenes involve one static person standing or sitting while having a conversation with another static person. There are a few scenes where you see an actor move, e.g. walking down stairs or through a tunnel, but these aren't the majority of the movie.   read more »

Memory - The Brief

Memory is the first production for Spinneyhead Presents. It's a low budget, practically zero budget series of 5 short episodes. Current spend has been about £35 for some props. That's excluding travelling expenses, bear in mind that everyone lives within about 40 miles of the 3 locations used.  read more »


Lessons Learnt

Memory was the first production for Spinneyhead Presents. I was able to predict some of the lessons that the team would learn (e.g. spend time sorting the audio out on location before taking it back for mixing), some of them I missed as well. This is the first in a series of Lessons Learnt.

Memory

I've been involved in the making of Memory; a Spinneyhead Presents production. Originally I'd been involved from the beginning to compose the music for the series of shorts, including a trailer, intro fanfares and outro. We're talking about 5 episodes, each of 3-5 minutes. The episodes are being released as part of the Not Manchester Festival.
Episode 3 was released on Friday just gone, expect the remaining 2 episodes on the following 2 Fridays.  read more »
