It's odd what you don't notice when looking at the detail.
I used to check my site stats every couple of days. I knew this wouldn't continue, but I've had some fun trying to guess what readers were actually searching for, despite the search terms entered.
Part of the reason I wanted to move away from looking at them so often is that I quickly lost sight of what brought readers to this site. I could see from day to day, but not what counts over a few months.
I've just had a look at the logs for the last 2 years. Interestingly enough, the highest ranking search was "how to be musically creative".
That fits well with the major theme of this site and specifically the series of articles on How to be Creative - Musical Creativity and overcoming writer's or composer's block.
The really odd thing was that results for that term peaked around June 2008. At the time, I hadn't even noticed. I was writing an article per week on that series. But soon after, say around August 2008, I let that series lapse, mainly because I had to concentrate on sorting out some of our wedding arrangements. The logs reflect that change. There have been almost no visits for that term since August 2008.
That was a very quick fall after a slow rise.
I still post to the series every so often. It's a passion of mine, but often I'm busy practising it, not writing about it :-)
