After a hiatus over winter, the next set of Venn episodes is now in pre-production.
There have been two meetings this week; last night's was a meeting of the script-writers. We spent most of the time adding weight to the characters, discussing the major story arc and what each episode would show.
This was my first time being involved in the initial stages of a script. Usually, I'm happy to be reviewing and commenting someone else's work. It's a different feeling to be part of the script-writing script.
Admittedly, the first half of the meeting was slow-going, then half-way through, it started to gel together. Once we'd got the framework, it became a lot easier to fill in the gaps. We didn't even write a word of script last night. Fortunately we'd already figured out that we had enough background work to do before we could start on the script.
Start writing the script. I think the initial idea is to pass each episode to a different writer, then bring the results back together so we can ensure continuity of style and plot.
